AHL Goalie News — Wednesday April 1, 2009

Injury Report

  • Providence Bruins Kevin Reglan is out for the season with a torn hip labrum. (Projo Bruins Journal)
  • Houston Aeros are down to one healthy goalie, recent ECHL call-up Anton Khudobin, as he replaced injured Nolan Schaefer late in the first period tonight in a 6-2 win over Iowa.  (Suppose if I bring my gear to the game on Thursday, they’ll let me back up Khudobin?)

  • Washington completed a goalie swap sending Daren Machesney back to the Hershey Bears and recalling Simeon Varlamov to the Capitals. (Hershey Bears)
  • Bridgeport Sound Tigers signed Kevin Poulin, the New York Islanders 2008 5th round draft pick, to an ATO now that his season with the Victoriaville Tigers has ended. (Bridgeport transactions)

AHL begins announcing season awards starting tomorrow. Check in tomorrow to see who would theoretically backstop the All Rookie team.

About The Author

Heather Galindo

I cover the AHL Houston Aeros for, which has focused my passion for goaltending on minor league goalies mainly in the AHL. To stay abreast of every last drop of AHL goalie news, follow me at @InGoalMagAHL on Twitter while the big news, analysis, etc. will be posted here at I was so inspired by watching the goalies here in Houston a few years ago that I went out and learned to skate and play hockey in order to become a goalie myself. So far I'm still more sieve than goalie, but I've never had more fun being so terrible at something!
