Binghamton’s Chris Holt shoots, scores

Binghamton Sentators goaltender Chris Holt became just the 10th AHL goalie all time to score a goal tonight in a 30-save, 4-2 win over the Rochester Amerks.

Holt’s a great story this season, starting the year in ECHL Elmira, and eventually earning a spot in Binghamton, sending Andy Chiodo down to Elmira instead. With injuries abounding in Ottawa, the organization’s goalies have shuffled around plenty this season and had lots of opportunity to prove themselves at higher levels.

He now leads the B-Sens goalies with a 3.01 GAA and .904 save %. He currently has a 14-14-1 record and 4 shutouts to his name, though the team is in a three-way tie for the basement of the East Division and likely out of the playoff picture.

I cover the AHL Houston Aeros for, which has focused my passion for goaltending on minor league goalies mainly in the AHL. To stay abreast of every last drop of AHL goalie news, follow me at @InGoalMagAHL on Twitter while the big news, analysis, etc. will be posted here at I was so inspired by watching the goalies here in Houston a few years ago that I went out and learned to skate and play hockey in order to become a goalie myself. So far I'm still more sieve than goalie, but I've never had more fun being so terrible at something!
