Bridgeport’s Mikko Koskinen out 8-10 weeks

So much for wondering what the Islanders were going to do with 6 goalies between the NHL and AHL ranks. They’re down to five now that giant Finnish goalie Mikko Koskinen has torn a hip labrum and will be out 8-10 weeks.

Details about the injury are still coming out, but Michael Fornabaio is on the case for the Connecticut Post.

Left to man the pipes for the Sound Tigers are Nathan Lawson and Scott Munroe.

Update: Here’s a little more information from the Connecticut Post.

I cover the AHL Houston Aeros for ProHockeyNews.com, which has focused my passion for goaltending on minor league goalies mainly in the AHL. To stay abreast of every last drop of AHL goalie news, follow me at @InGoalMagAHL on Twitter while the big news, analysis, etc. will be posted here at InGoalMag.com. I was so inspired by watching the goalies here in Houston a few years ago that I went out and learned to skate and play hockey in order to become a goalie myself. So far I'm still more sieve than goalie, but I've never had more fun being so terrible at something!
