Carter Hutton Gets Flipped By Marcus Foligno

The dreaded “race for the puck” scenario is never a fun situation for any goaltender, playing in any league. Getting caught out of your net, or colliding with an oncoming skater is pretty much a nightmare. For Carter Hutton on Wednesday night, that nightmare came to life.

While racing out for a puck that had been sent down into the Nashville Predators’ end, Buffalo’s Marcus Foligno saw an opportunity to catch the goaltender out of his net. The timing was disastrous, as Foligno dove for the puck and they both collided – with Hutton taking the brunt of the impact.

Luckily both players were unharmed, and continued to play in the game. The play was whistled dead because Hutton’s mask flew off in the collision, which allowed him to reset a little bit, and compose himself.

Hutton would have the last laugh, as he would finish the game with 30 saves – and the Predators walked away with a 3-2 victory on the road.

Hutton was also able to share a laugh about the incident with teammate Eric Nystrom on Twitter:
