Gatineau Olympiques Goalie Scores His Second Goal of the Year

Scoring a goal on an empty net is something that every goalie dreams about, but few accomplish the feat. François Brassard of the Gatineau Olympiques has now done it twice in one season.

Brassard became the fourth goalie in QMJHL history to score a goal back in December while he was with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

On Saturday night during a game against the Saint John Sea Dogs, he did it again.

His first goal was more of a bank shot off the glass. This time he lined it up, and shot it directly in from behind his own net. Nice shot!

No QMJHL goaltender had ever scored two goals in a single season, until now.

With only three weeks left in the season, it continues to be a strong finish for Brassard and the Olympiques who are 7-0-0-1 in their last eight games.

Since joining the Olympiques, Brassard has played in 15 games and is 8-3-1 with a 2.67 G.A.A, and .899 SV%.

Those are some great statistics, but it’s hard to beat two goals on the season.

The special achievement called for a special celebration, and Brassard did not disappoint. His celebration was almost better than the goal itself!

Brassard elected to go with the classic “sniper” celebration. Well done, François!

How would you celebrate if you scored a goal on an empty net?
