Young Goaltender Practices Outside on a Frozen Puddle

Goaltenders are always looking for an extra edge on the competition. Spending more time on the ice and practicing a lot is a great way to improve your skills, and some goalies are willing to go the extra mile for more ice time.

Such is the case for the goaltender in a video posted by Abbotsford, British Columbia resident Sherena Doerksen. On Wednesday, December 30th, she posted a video on Facebook of a young (and apparently very keen) goaltender practicing moves outside on a small, frozen puddle in a parking lot.

Only in BC! Lol

Now, it is not recommended that anyone else does this. Skating on even the most well-kept outdoor rinks can cause your equipment to wear out much quicker – but you have to admire the effort! It can be difficult to find outdoor rinks in British Columbia, so, as the old saying goes, desperate times call for desperate measures!

The post has garnered over 235,000 views so far, and has been shared over 2,169 times.

We hope that the young goalie can find a larger, more usable ice surface in the near future.
