Hiller Goes All Out in Funny Movie Bid for Video Game Cover

Anaheim Ducks Goalie Jonas Hiller

Anaheim Goalie Jonas Hiller made an entertaining three-part video series to promote his bid for the cover of the NHL13 video game.

It’s for the Goalie Union to unite and rally behind a couple of our NHL brethren.

That’s what some of the league’s top stoppers are asking in their bids to be on the cover of NHL13, the next edition of EA Sports popular video game franchise. With EA sports holding a Final Four-style cover vote for the NHL series the same way they have for the Madden football games, some of the game’s top stoppers have taken to social media to solicit votes.

The campaigning includes New York Rangers’ star Henrik Lundqvist taking to his twitter account to post a photo of him on the cover of the Swedish version of the video game back in 2007 (after winning the 2006 Olympic Gold Medal) and writing: “Sweden, 2007. Let’s make it world wide this time!! Keep voting for me! 1st round ends April 11th.”

Lundqvist and Nashville’s Pekka Rinne were both top five in voting with six days left to go – and in contention to become the first goalies since John Vanbiesbrouck in 1997 to grace the cover – but clearly the best campaign belongs to Anaheim’s Jonas Hiller, who has used Youtube to spread an entertaining three-part video series documenting his bid for more votes:

Be sure to cast your vote for your favourite goaltender. With all due respect to both Lundqvist and Rinne, who have been long-time supporters of InGoal Magazine and always gracious with their time, after watching the above video our vote goes to Hiller.
