NHL Saves of the Week: December 21 – 27

Even though the week was drastically shortened because of the break for the holidays, there was no shortage of highlight-reel saves to choose from! Cam Talbot began the week with a pre-Christmas performance for the ages. His partner Anders Nilsson must have been jealous, because he stole the spotlight after Christmas with an absolutely beautiful glove save.

With Marc-Andre Fleury still out with an injury, Matt Murray and Jeff Zatkoff have been picking up the slack in Pittsburgh. Their goal-scoring woes continues, but both goaltenders have been solid – especially Zatkoff, who tops this week’s list with a great diving paddle save.

Enjoy those saves and more in the NHL saves of the week for December 21st to 27th:

Mike Condon – Montreal Canadiens

Condon almost got burned by going down too early, but recovered nicely with an aggressive move!

Jake Allen – St. Louis Blues

Allen picks his rebound up just in time to rob Marchand.

Steve Mason – Philadelphia Flyers

Mason shuts down the NHL’s top sniper like it’s nothing.

Antti Niemi – Dallas Stars

Niemi lunges across to make a huge blocker stop.

Anders Nilsson – Edmonton Oilers

From RVH to robbery, this sequence was phenomenal.

Jacob Markstrom – Vancouver Canucks

Markstrom uses all of his height to get his leg on this Stamkos chance!

Cory Schneider – New Jersey Devils

Schneider1 (2)

Cory Schnieder stops the first chance, and somehow manages to cover the rebound!

Cam Talbot – Edmonton Oilers

This was part of a 44-save performance from Talbot, who looks to have found his groove.

Brian Elliott – St. Louis Blues

Hemsky flubs it, but it was still going in. Give Elliott full credit on this one!

Jeff Zatkoff – Pittsburgh Penguins

Pure desperation from Zatkoff, and he just gets the paddle down in time!
