Former Monarchs goaltender Danny Taylor comes back to haunt his old team as he posts a 2-1 victory for the Springfield Falcons.

Taylor, tasked with getting the Falcons back in the win column, picked up his second win of the season (2-1-0) with  a 32 save effort. Dating back to last year, the last three wins for Taylor in a Falcons’ uniform have come against his former team, Manchester. He saved his best for last turning away 18 shots alone in the third period. Taylor’s performance earned him secord star of the game honors.

The slumping Monarchs who have now lost five in a row, a franchise record, sent out Martin Jones  (3-4-0-0) to stop the slide. Jones let in goals early in both the first and second frames but settled down to hold Springfield scoreless for the third.

After giving up just five goals in their first four games, Manchester has now allowed 19 goals in their last four contests.

I miss going to Falcons games! I remember once when the Lexington Thoroughblades (I live in Lexington) played at Springfield while I was up visiting my dad, and I was the only Throughblades fan in the arena. And the outcome of the game didn’t matter to me because I love both teams. That’s what I call a great hockey game!
