
Vaughn CHL Goalie of the Week: Record-Setter JP Anderson

JP Anderson of the Sarnia Sting was selected as the Vaughn Canadian Hockey League Goaltender of the Week after setting a new OHL record for career wins with 115 during a week that saw him go 2-0-0-1 with a shutout victory, a goals-against-average of 0.97, and a save percentage of .973.
Anderson stopped 107 shots and was named First Star in all three games last week. He tied the OHL record for career wins with his 114th victory Thursday and posted his first shutout of the season with 42 saves in a 3-0 win over the Saginaw Spirit. On Friday he made 36 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to Windsor before earning career win number 115 Sunday on home ice with 29 saves in a 4-1 win over the Sault Ste. Marie, surpassing former Greyhound netminder Kyle Gajewski who won 114 games between 2004-08.
Anderson, a 20-year-old Toronto native in his fifth OHL season and free agent signing of the San Jose Sharks, is 15-9-0-3 this season with a goals-against-average of 2.90 and save percentage of .913.
Also considered for the award were Kamloop’s Cole Cheveldave, who went 2-0-0-0 with a shutout victory for a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .974, and rookie Marvin Cupper of the Shawinigan Cataractes, who was also 2-0-0-0 with a shutout victory while posting a 0.96 goals-against-average of 0.96 and .962 save percentage.
