September is National Preparedness Month and with the hockey season ramping up, what better time than now to prepare for the unexpected? Complete the Concussion Diagnostic test for your pre-season baseline. Baseline testing should help you maintain a healthy performance throughout the year. If you do sustain a concussion, you can retake the Concussion Diagnostic and compare past and present results for a safe return to play.
The baseline testing can also be used to test your cognitive abilities and brain function in a non-hockey related platform. Test and train your memory recall, reaction time, and vision skills. 'Dark Mode' is a great feature for those that have sensitivity to light or currently have concussion symptoms. Please take advantage of this option on both the Player and Goalie platforms. The Sense Arena Advisory board suggests the Concussion Baseline test should be taken on an annual basis to provide documentation of your most up-to-date baseline results prior to starting a new season. Please take 10 minutes this pre-season and prepare appropriately for the long season ahead.
Best of luck this season from your Sense Arena Team!
InGoal Radio Podcast presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports
🎤 Episode 189 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features another great conversation with Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, as well an interview with October Saves founder Lara Hopewell about their amazing efforts to fight cancer.
In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Swayman returns for a second appearance to catch our listeners up on his meteoric two-year rise from being the NCAA's top goalie to becoming an NHL regular. Swayman shares insights on his quick adjustments to pro on and off the ice, how his game and approach changed in that short time with help from Tuukka Rask and goalie coach Bob Essensa, why he uses a figure skating-like warm-up skates (and yes he still uses ballet to train), and his inspiring Goalie Hugs everywhere through his strong relationship with playing partner Linus Ullmark.
Swayman has also used his voice to help promote October Saves, which makes him the perfect guest this week alongside Hopewell as InGoal joins this great cause to help raise money in the fight against cancer. In addition to listening to the interview, be sure to check out how the sign up, the great prizes you can win (we added a Carey Price-signed jersey and Connor Hellebuyck-signed stick to the list) and how we'll donate half of any new InGoal subscriptions in October to the cause.
