September is National Preparedness Month and with the hockey season ramping up, what better time than now to prepare for the unexpected? Complete the Concussion Diagnostic test for your pre-season baseline. Baseline testing should help you maintain a healthy performance throughout the year. If you do sustain a concussion, you can retake the Concussion Diagnostic and compare past and present results for a safe return to play.
The baseline testing can also be used to test your cognitive abilities and brain function in a non-hockey related platform. Test and train your memory recall, reaction time, and vision skills. 'Dark Mode' is a great feature for those that have sensitivity to light or currently have concussion symptoms. Please take advantage of this option on both the Player and Goalie platforms. The Sense Arena Advisory board suggests the Concussion Baseline test should be taken on an annual basis to provide documentation of your most up-to-date baseline results prior to starting a new season. Please take 10 minutes this pre-season and prepare appropriately for the long season ahead.
Best of luck this season from your Sense Arena Team!
InGoal Radio Podcast presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports
🎤 Episode 187 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a great conversation with Seattle Kraken goalie Chris Driedger as he continues his comeback from a torn ACL in the gold medal game of the World Championships back in May.
In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Driedger talks about the slow road back from an injury that isn't common for goalies, and the importance of patience while going through a process expected to keep him out until at least Christmas. Driedger also shares some valuable lessons from his first season in Seattle, and an expansion franchise that struggled out of the gate, including how his work with a sports psychologist helped him re-examine his pre-game preparation and ultimately simplify that process as part of a late-season surge he hopes to carry over once he's back.
All that, plus our weekly plus a trip to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a closer look how to properly fit your chest protector, including the most common mistakes goalies make picking a size.
