InGoal Radio Podcast presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports
🎤 Episode 176 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features Dallas Stars #1 Jake Oettinger just a few weeks after his incredible 7-game playoff performance vs. The Calgary Flames.
In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Oettinger chats with InGoal listeners openly and honestly - goalie to goalie. He shares insights about his summer training, what he hopes to improve on going into next season and the role Ben Bishop, who he described as having one of the best hockey IQs in the game, has played in his adaptation to the pros. Jake also talks about his Bauer equipment, his roots in the game and the advice he would have for his younger self - something that applies to all our younger listeners and their parents.
All that, plus a trip to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a look at the new Bauer NME ONE mask….or is it a helmet? You decide. But check it out, the pro level protection crossed with light weight and comfort impressed us right away!

Roberto Luongo, Hall of Fame 2022
Congratulations to @thestrombone1 on being selected for the Hall of Fame class of 2022, his first year of eligibility. Lu has been such a massive inspiration to us at InGoal, and a great supporter over the years, from being our first ever guest on the InGoal Radio Podcast, to the series of tips and drills we gathered after visiting him in Florida getting ready for a season (check out InGoalMag.com for the stories and videos), to helping fuel Woody’s passion for the position as his first feature interview for the old Goalie News magazine, to having us host his Q+A at Hockey Canada’s goalie coach certification event, and we can’t think of a better way to honour his incredible career than being a first ballot Hall of Famer 🎉
We are excited to unveil a new Nutrition Advice column with former pro, current NCAA goalie coach and sports scientist @jamiephillips30 ... we get things rolling with pre-game meal hacks and a downloadable recipe that you can check out at InGoalMag.com now... then look for Jamie, who has both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Kinesiology and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, on the podcast soon talking more nutrition and training advice.
Latest Pro Drills features Canucks goalie development coach Curtis Sanford and @spencermartin30 working on entries and exits into the post, with a priority on reducing delays with early eyes and organization, as well as consistent execution.

Personalized Tracking: This Puck over Net drill with the Canucks features Thatcher Demko, Spencer Martin and Arturs Silovs, and a great lesson on why there’s not just 1 right way to do things as a goalie, but you better do your way right. Story with videos featuring all 3 goalies, and a video review with Canucks goalie development coach Curtis Sanford.
🎥 The new DRS system on @ccmgoalie totally re-designed AXIS 2 pads was developed to get goalies to the ice faster and provide a more stable seal by fixing the inner flap of the knee stack to the inner edge of the pad, which gives the pad a stiffer profile up top and ensures the knee stack won’t get floppy over time, which creates lag between the knee getting to ice ahead of the pad (check the video to see how it all fits together) … it’s hard to miss the crisp, distinct sound of these new pads snapping to the ice, but as you can see in the final photo they also re-did the internal foams on the knee stack itself to reduce impact on the knee by 31.2 percent … to learn more check out the free deep-dive overview at InGoalMag.com
We've been attending Eli wilson Goaltending Camps every summer for almost as long as InGoal has been creating content for goalies, coaches and parents - more than a decade. And our own David Hutchison has entrusted his son's development to Eli for as long as Matty has been in goalie skates. In fact Matty got his first win as a WHL goaltender this year as a 15-year old - beating the Kelowna Rockets whose goalie coach is...Eli Wilson! It was a special moment for both of them.
We trust our youngest to Eli - and it's gotten him to the highest level he can play at his age - if you're looking for a coach to help your son or daughter reach the next level - try Eli Wilson Goaltending this summer.
