Shots on Goal: Portland’s Leggio vs Manchester’s Jones

The Portland Pirates used two goalies to try and slow down an invigorated Monarchs offense but to no avail as Manchester won it’s third game in a row, 6-1 over the Pirates.

David Leggio

Leggio (8-2-0) got the start in net for the Pirates and played for the first 20 minutes stopping 12 of 16 shots on goal. This was just his second loss of the season. Manchester’s four goals in the first period are a season high for goals in a period.

Jhonas Enroth

Enroth (5-4-0) took over for Leggio at the start of the second period and stopped 24 of 26 shots on net. Defenseman Nick Crawford (2) scored the lone Pirates goal at 1:44 of the second period.

Martin Jones

Jones (5-1-0) earned his fifth victory of the season, stopping 34-of-35 shots. The win was the 14th of the season for the Monarchs keeping them in first place in the Atlantic Division. (14-7-1-1)

Oscar Moller provided the spark for Manchester scoring two goals on the night. Other Monarchs that lit the lamp were Corey Elkins (5), Brayden Schenn, third goal in two games, Justin Azevedo (7) and Ray Kaunisto (3).
