Alaska Goaltending Academy was started in 2016 to provide world class training to goaltenders of all ages up in Alaska. The academy was started by Steve Thompson who is now the Manager of Goaltending Development for all of USA Hockey. The program's structure is built upon Steve's years of experience coaching at the college, professional, and international levels. In addition to the local leadership, AKGA also brings up a guest coach from the games highest levels including in 2024 Thomas Speer from the San Jose Sharks and in 2023 Matt Millar from the LA Kings. This year Rob Couturier, who works as a goalie coach within the Seattle Kraken farm system will be joining AKGA for the summer. Notable alums of AKGA include Jeremy Swayman with the Boston Bruins, Phoenix Copely with the LA Kings, and Isaiah Saville with the Las Vegas Golden Knights. If you are looking for incredible development in one of the most majestic areas of the world, sign up today while spots are still available!
