Pro-Tips: Binnington brings pre-game juggling onto ice with unique warm up
Nothing shines the spotlight on a goaltender’s pre-game routines like a playoff run.
We saw it with Braden Holtby and the Washington Capitals long before they had a playoff run extend all the way to the Cup, with plenty of ink spilled and video footage dedicated to the unique eye and body warm ups that were quickly dubbed “Holtby-isms.” And we saw it again with Jordan Binnington and the St. Louis Blues during their Cup-winning run last season.
It was hard to miss Binnington’s unique pre-game routine on the ice, bouncing the puck off his own pads and juggling it off the face of his blocker and back of his glove, so late in the 2019-20 season we asked the Blues No. 1 goaltender about his warm-up while showing him this video clip from earlier in the season:
