Thank you for your insight I am just beginning the journey and I plan on cherishing every moment in a positive way
You’re very welcome – and welcome to InGoal! The years go by so quickly – enjoy the time together.
The first year my daughter played in net (U11) I “car coached” entirely the wrong way. The second year she played I was an assistant and guess who was working with the goalie? After that year of coaching her, I decided I had to walk the walk, so I became a goalie and it 100% changed my view of the game and the position. Nothing less than positivity on the car ride home, yeah you talk about the give aways and the ones you wish you could get back, but you focus on the positives. That daughter is now in her last year of HS and my youngest daughter is in her 2nd year of U13 AA (which I am not coaching) and I’m glad I learned quickly that you cant be too hard on these kids. Its a tough position to begin with, but at the same time, you can’t ignore what needs to be worked on. Its all part of growing and getting better.
