Analyzing the Vezina Finalists
For the first time in three seasons, the NHL has achieved something like regular-season normalcyβevery team managed to complete 82 games. This means that the usual formula for Vezina trophy (top goaltender) consideration could have been applied in its usual way: the general managers (the voters for this award) tend to vote for the goaltender with the highest save percentage, who also 1) has a winning record on a playoff-bound team, and 2) has been the teamβs clear starter, appearing in at least 50 games, preferably more. This list, ranked by save percentage, of goaltenders appearing in at least 50 games, is the place to start when considering who the voters are most likely to consider:
