Why Is Canadian Chris Driedger Trying Out for the Canucks in Team USA Gear?

It’s always fun to spot NHL goalies wear new gear each season but perhaps our favourite example of the Goalie Union having each other’s back comes courtesy of the mismatched colors and brands Chris Driedger is sporting on his PTO with the Vancouver Canucks.

Driedger even had Canucks social media speculating about a new third jersey when he first appeared at captain skates wearing a set of red-white-and-blue True pads and gloves, with a matching-colors Bauer blocker. That last part should have been a giveaway as to the “true” reason Driedger’s new setup didn’t match the Canucks’ usual colors.
