"Vizual Edge has added a quality element to my preparation as a goaltender. I use the game day drills every game before heading to the rink. It’s a combination of recognition, reaction and focus that activates my brain and eyes to feel ready for what’s to come.” — Jordan Binnington

Charlie Lindgren is coming off another strong season with the Washington Capitals, one that earned the popular full-right goalie a three-year contract extension and kept his Pro Reads video breakdowns in Capitals colors as relevant as they are insightful and open.
THE SEQUENCE
Last time Lindgren was dealing with a long, straight-line breakaway against the Pittsburgh Penguins, so we wanted to follow it up with a different kind of 1-on-1 chance, this time with Pierre Luc-Dubois (ironically now a teammate) cutting in alone off the wing:
Looking at the freeze frame above, what stands out about Lindgren’s positioning, especially compared to where he was on the clearcut breakaway in his last Pro Reads?
What factors do you think go into this depth decision? Is it as simple as Dubois cutting in from an angle rather than straight ahead up the middle, or are there other reasons?
What about his still-narrow stance at this point? Lastly, would you be using that short side post as an anchor or dropping into it at any point of this attack? Why or why not?
THE SAVE
Of course, pace matters when it comes to a breakaway, so watch the save play out below, and ask yourself the same questions about Lindgren’s depth, angle and use of the post:
What stood out to you about how Lindgren used his post or managed his depth on Dubois?
THE PRO READ

I would have thought he would have tried a poke check on that play or at least that’s what I would have done
