Ben Bishop was born in Denver, Colorado on November 21, 1986, and went on to become one of the more physically distinctive figures in NHL history — at 6'7" and 210 pounds, he is among the tallest goaltenders ever to play in the league, tied with several others at that height. A left-catching netminder, he was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the third round (24th pick in the round) of the 2005 NHL Draft.
Over the course of his NHL career, Bishop appeared in 413 games, recording 222 wins, 128 losses, and 36 overtime losses, with a career goals-against average of 2.32, a save percentage of .921, and 33 shutouts. He played for the St. Louis Blues, Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, and Dallas Stars, and was named a Vezina Trophy finalist three times.
