Christopher Gibson was born on December 27, 1992, in Karkkila, Finland, and was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, 19th pick of that round. He never played for Los Angeles, instead signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs and working through their minor league system before a trade brought him to the New York Islanders.
The left-catching goaltender stands 6'2" and weighs 217 pounds. Across 16 NHL appearances, he went 4-5-3 with a 3.33 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. He currently plays for the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
