Cristobal Huet
Cristobal Huet, born September 3, 1975, in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, France, holds a place in NHL history as the first French netminder to play in the league. A left-catching goaltender standing 6'1" and weighing 205 pounds, he was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL Draft, 18th pick of that round.
Over 272 NHL games with the Kings, Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals, and Chicago Blackhawks organizations, Huet posted 129 wins, 90 losses, and 21 overtime losses, with a career goals-against average of 2.46, a save percentage of .913, and 24 shutouts.
After his NHL career, Huet continued in professional hockey in Switzerland, playing for HC Lugano and HC Fribourg-Gottéron. He has since transitioned into coaching and currently serves as a goaltender coach for Lausanne HC of the National League.
