Damian Rhodes was born on May 28, 1969, in St. Paul, Minnesota, and went on to spend eleven seasons as a goaltender in the National Hockey League. Selected by Toronto in the sixth round, seventh pick, of the 1987 NHL Draft, Rhodes took a left-handed catching stance and stood 5'11", 195 pounds.
Over a career spanning 309 games, Rhodes recorded 99 wins, 140 losses, a 2.84 goals-against average, a .899 save percentage, and 12 shutouts. He dressed for three franchises: the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Ottawa Senators, and the Atlanta Thrashers. When Atlanta acquired him in June 1999, Rhodes became the first player in Thrashers franchise history.
