Evgeni Nabokov was born on July 25, 1975, in Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, and went on to play 697 NHL games across a professional career that stretched from the early 1990s through 2015. Selected by the San Jose Sharks in the ninth round, 11th pick, of the 1994 NHL Draft, Nabokov accumulated 353 wins, 227 losses, and 57 overtime losses at the NHL level, finishing with a career goals-against average of 2.44, a save percentage of .911, and 59 shutouts. He wore number 20 and caught left-handed, standing 6'0" and weighing 202 pounds.
In addition to his time with San Jose, Nabokov played in the NHL with the New York Islanders and the Tampa Bay Lightning. His professional career also included stints in Russia with Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk, Dynamo Moscow, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, and SKA Saint Petersburg, spanning both the Russian Super League and the Kontinental Hockey League.
