Fredrik Norrena
Fredrik Norrena was born on November 29, 1973, in Pietarsaari, Finland, and spent the majority of a professional career that stretched from 1992 to 2014 playing in Europe β primarily in the Finnish SM-liiga and Swedish Elitserien. His path to the NHL was an unconventional one: he was selected by Columbus in the seventh round of the 2002 NHL Draft, 16th pick of that round, at the age of 28.
Norrena made his NHL debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets and appeared in 100 NHL games across the 2006β07 and 2007β08 seasons. In those 100 appearances, he recorded 35 wins, 45 losses, and 11 overtime losses, with a goals-against average of 2.79, a save percentage of .899, and 5 shutouts. He wore number 30 and caught left-handed.
After his time in Columbus, Norrena returned to European hockey, where he continued playing until 2014.
