Jean-Sébastien Giguère was born on May 16, 1977, in Montréal, Quebec, and became one of the more recognizable names in NHL goaltending during the early 2000s. The Hartford Whalers selected him 13th overall in the first round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft after he developed through the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Halifax Mooseheads. He spent time in the Calgary Flames organization before joining the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 2000, where he would build the most prominent chapter of his career.
Over 597 NHL regular-season games, Giguère posted 262 wins, 216 losses, and 50 overtime losses, with a career goals-against average of 2.53, a save percentage of .913, and 38 shutouts. He catches left.
