Jiri Patera was born in Praha, Czech Republic, on February 24, 1999, and was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Draft, 166th overall. The 6'3", 212-pound left-catching goaltender has since made his way to the NHL level with two different organizations.
Patera's NHL debut came with the Golden Knights. In the 2022-23 season, he appeared in two games for Vegas, going 2-0 with a 2.50 GAA and a .929 save percentage. The following season, 2023-24, he appeared in six games for the Golden Knights, posting a record of 1-3 with a 3.98 GAA and an .893 save percentage.
Patera joined the Vancouver Canucks organization ahead of the 2025-26 season and wears number 30. Through his first appearance with Vancouver — and his ninth NHL game overall — he posted a 7.39 GAA and a .825 save percentage in 56 minutes and 49 seconds of ice time against 40 shots.
