John Vanbiesbrouck
John Vanbiesbrouck was born on September 4, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, and went on to play 882 games in the NHL across a career that stretched from 1981 to 2002. Selected by the New York Rangers in the fourth round of the 1981 draft, ninth pick of that round, he went on to suit up for five franchises: the New York Rangers, Florida Panthers, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, and New Jersey Devils. He stood 5'8" and weighed 175 pounds, catching left.
Over his NHL career, Vanbiesbrouck recorded 374 wins, 346 losses, a goals-against average of 2.98, a save percentage of .899, and 40 shutouts. In 2007, he was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. Since retiring as a player, he has moved into a role as a hockey executive.
