Lukas Dostal was 18 years old and playing in his native Czech Republic when the Anaheim Ducks selected him in the third round, 85th overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft. Born in Brno on June 22, 2000, the 6'2", 190-pound left-catching goaltender has spent every season of his NHL career in Anaheim — working his way from a four-game cup of coffee into the Ducks' primary netminder across a still-active 177-game career.
His first NHL appearance came in 2021-22, when Dostal appeared in four games, posting a 1-2 record with a 2.98 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage. The following season, 2022-23, he played 19 games, going 4-10 with a 3.78 GAA and a .901 save percentage, as the Ducks worked through a rebuilding stretch.
The 2023-24 season marked a significant expansion of his role. Dostal started 44 games, finishing 14-23 with a 3.33 GAA, a .902 save percentage, and one shutout — the first of his NHL career.
