Mark Laforest, born July 10, 1962, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, spent nearly a decade navigating professional hockey at both the NHL and AHL levels. The left-catching goaltender stood 5'11" and weighed 190 pounds.
Over his NHL career, Laforest appeared in 103 games with the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators between 1985 and 1994, recording 25 wins, 54 losses, a 4.23 goals-against average, a .868 save percentage, and 2 shutouts.
Much of his professional legacy was built in the American Hockey League. He was a member of the 1986 Calder Cup championship team and was twice named the AHL's best goaltender, winning the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award in 1987 and again in 1991.
