Martin Gerber
Martin Gerber was already 26 years old when the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim selected him in the eighth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, making his path to North America's top league a longer road than most. Born on September 3, 1974, in Burgdorf, Switzerland, the left-catching goaltender stood 6'0" and weighed 205 pounds.
Gerber went on to play 229 NHL games across five franchises — Anaheim, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Ottawa Senators, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Edmonton Oilers — finishing his NHL career with 113 wins, 78 losses, 14 overtime losses, a 2.63 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage, and 10 shutouts. The most prominent moment of that career came in 2006, when he was a member of the Carolina Hurricanes team that won the Stanley Cup.
