Michael Leighton
Michael Leighton, born May 19, 1981, in Petrolia, Ontario, spent more than a decade navigating the professional game after the Chicago Blackhawks selected him in the sixth round of the 1999 NHL Draft, 8th pick of that round. Standing 6'3" and catching left, the Canadian netminder went on to appear in 110 NHL regular-season games, recording 37 wins, 43 losses, and 4 overtime losses alongside a 2.98 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage, with 4 shutouts across stints with the Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Carolina Hurricanes, and Philadelphia Flyers.
Following his playing career, Leighton moved into coaching. He currently serves as an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings.
