Milan Hnilicka was born on June 25, 1973, in Litomerice, Czech Republic, and was selected 70th overall — fourth pick in the fourth round — by the New York Islanders in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. The left-catching netminder stood 6'1" and weighed 190 pounds.
Over his NHL career, Hnilicka appeared in 121 games, recording 29 wins, 67 losses, a 3.31 goals-against average, a .900 save percentage, and 5 shutouts. He played for the New York Rangers, Atlanta Thrashers, and Los Angeles Kings.
