Patriks Plumins (Latvian: Patriks Plūmiņš) is a goaltender selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2026 NHL Draft — and the author of one of the great goaltending performances in U18 hockey. At the 2026 IIHF U18 World Championship he was named the tournament's Best Goaltender, stopping 43 of 45 shots to upset a heavily favored United States 5-2 (Latvia was outshot 45-16) and carrying his country to its first-ever U18 Worlds semifinal. "It wasn't our night and we ran into a great goaltender," U.S. coach Nick Fohr said.
Born January 7, 2008 in Talsi, the 6-foot-4 netminder took a throwback path — drafted straight out of Latvia's domestic Optibet league with Zemgale/LBTU, where he posted a .927 save percentage with three shutouts. He's the latest in a proud Latvian goaltending line that runs from Artūrs Irbe to Elvis Merzlikins and Arturs Silovs, and he already owns 3-on-3 gold from the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics.
