Pauli Jaks
Pauli Jaks was born on January 25, 1972, in Schaffhausen, Switzerland β one of the relatively few European goaltenders of his era to receive NHL draft attention. The Los Angeles Kings selected him in the fifth round of the 1991 NHL Draft, 20th pick of that round, when he was 19 years old.
Standing 6'0" and weighing 191 pounds, Jaks is a left-catching goaltender who spent the bulk of a professional career stretching from 1989 to 2006 playing in the Swiss Nationalliga A. He appeared in one NHL game for the Los Angeles Kings during the lockout-shortened 1994β95 season, recording a goals-against average of 3.00 and a save percentage of .920 in that single appearance. His NHL totals show no decision in that game.
Internationally, Jaks represented Switzerland at both the junior and senior levels, including participation in the 1996 World Championship B Pool.
