Rejean Lemelin
Réjean Lemelin was born on November 19, 1954, in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Selected by the Atlanta Flames in the seventh round of the 1974 NHL Draft — 17th pick in that round — the left-catching goaltender went on to play 506 games across three NHL franchises: the Atlanta Flames, the Calgary Flames, and the Boston Bruins.
Lemelin stood 5'11" and weighed 170 pounds. Over his NHL career he recorded 236 wins, 161 losses, a 3.46 goals-against average, a .884 save percentage, and 12 shutouts.
He is perhaps best known for his role in the 1988 playoffs, when the Bruins defeated the Montreal Canadiens — ending a Boston drought against Montreal that had lasted since 1943, a span of 45 years and 18 playoff series.
