Roman Cechmanek
Roman Čechmánek arrived in the NHL later than most, selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round of the 2000 NHL Draft — fourth pick of that round — at an age when many European players had already established themselves stateside or moved on. Born on March 2, 1971, in Gottwaldov, Czech Republic, the 6'3", 211-pound left-catching goaltender had built a career in Europe before crossing the Atlantic.
Over 212 NHL regular-season games, split between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Los Angeles Kings from 2000 to 2004, Čechmánek posted 110 wins, 64 losses, a 2.08 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage, and 25 shutouts. He also represented the Czech national team at multiple international tournaments, including seven World Championships.
InGoal Magazine has no prior coverage of Čechmánek on file.
