Ron Hextall
Ron Hextall was born on May 3, 1964, in Brandon, Manitoba, and was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round of the 1982 NHL Draft, 14th pick of that round. He went on to play 608 NHL regular-season games across a 13-season career, spending time with the Philadelphia Flyers, Quebec Nordiques, and New York Islanders between 1986 and 1999. A left-catching goaltender who stood 6'3" and weighed 192 pounds, he finished his playing career with 296 wins, 214 losses, a 2.98 goals-against average, a .895 save percentage, and 23 shutouts.
After his playing days ended, Hextall moved into hockey operations. He served as assistant general manager with the Flyers before being promoted to general manager on May 7, 2014, replacing Paul Holmgren in that role. He later served as general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
