Born in Helsinki, Finland, on June 3, 2000, Sanni Ahola became the first Finnish goaltender to sign in the PWHL, joining the Ottawa Charge. She wears number 1 and catches left.

Ahola spent five seasons in NCAA competition at St. Cloud State University, from 2020 to 2025, appearing in 84 games and posting a .917 save percentage across that span. In 2024 she was named WCHA Goaltender of the Year and earned First Team All-WCHA honors; a Third Team All-WCHA nomination followed in 2025.

On the international stage, Ahola represented Finland in three consecutive IIHF Women's World Championships, earning tournament All-Star recognition in 2024 along with selection as one of Finland's top three players at that event. Finland claimed bronze medals in both 2024 and 2025. She made her Olympic debut in Italy in 2026, starting four of Finland's five games.

Her career in Finnish domestic hockey began earlier. In 2018–19, playing for HIFK in the Mestis (W) league, she recorded the league's best save percentage at .962. That season HIFK earned promotion to Neisten Liiga for the following year. At the IIHF Women's U18 World Championships she posted a 1.81 GAA and .929 save percentage, tournament-best figures, and was named one of Finland's top three players.

Away from hockey, Ahola majored in Biology — Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution — and is described as a strong animal lover with an interest in working with animals in the future.
