Thomas Greiss
Thomas Greiss was born on January 29, 1986, in Füssen, Germany — a town with a long hockey tradition — and became one of the few German-born goaltenders to carve out a lengthy NHL career. Selected 94th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the third round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 6'2", 219-pound left-catching netminder went on to appear in 368 NHL games, posting 162 wins, 130 losses, and 37 overtime losses, with a career goals-against average of 2.77, a save percentage of .911, and 16 shutouts.
Over the course of his NHL tenure, Greiss wore the colors of six franchises: the San Jose Sharks, Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, and St. Louis Blues. Following his time in North America, he returned to Europe to play for Löwen Frankfurt in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
