Wendell Young
Wendell Young was born on August 1, 1963, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and went on to become the only player in hockey history to win all four of the sport's major professional and amateur championships: the Memorial Cup, the Calder Cup, the Turner Cup, and the Stanley Cup.
Selected by Vancouver in the fourth round, 10th pick, of the 1981 NHL Draft, the left-catching goaltender stood 5'9" and weighed 181 pounds. Over his NHL career he appeared in 187 games, recording 59 wins, 86 losses, a goals-against average of 3.94, a save percentage of .876, and 2 shutouts.
Young's post-playing career has kept him in the game. He serves as vice chairman/governor of the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. The Wolves retired his number 1 jersey in a ceremony at Allstate Arena on December 1, 2001.
