Zachary Jovanovski is a goaltender selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the sixth round (165th overall) of the 2026 NHL Draft — Carolina's second goaltender of the draft, after CHL Goaltender of the Year Ryder Fetterolf. Born October 7, 2007 in Tecumseh, Ontario, the 6-foot-3 netminder catches with his left hand. Despite the shared surname and Windsor-area roots, he is no relation to former NHL first-overall pick Ed Jovanovski. Known to teammates as "Wiz," he came up through Essex County's Sun County Panthers program and, in the 2026 playoffs, got to face his hometown Windsor Spitfires.

His rise was anything but typical. A seventh-round OHL Priority Selection, he opened 2024-25 with the Storm's Junior B affiliate, the Ayr Centennials, before earning a full-time promotion to Guelph on January 1, 2025 — and announced himself days later with a 40-save shutout in his first start. A year on, he had won the Storm's starting job outright; head coach Cory Stillman, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, called him the highest-ranked draft goalie in the entire Ontario Hockey League.

He backed it up as a workhorse, appearing in 25 of Guelph's 28 wins: NHL Central Scouting's top-ranked OHL goaltender (No. 12 among North American goalies), an OHL Top Prospects Game selection, and the OHL's Goaltender of the Month for February 2026 — a month he capped with a 38-save, 1-0 shutout of Sault Ste. Marie. InGoal Magazine will expand its coverage as his career develops.
