Fleury and Vasilevskiy Lead Mid-Season Vezina Race

As the NHL approaches the mid-way point of this abbreviated season, two goaltenders have separated themselves statistically in the race for the Vezina Trophy.

Marc-Andre Fleury and Andrei Vasilevskiy are the clear leaders, and while other recently published statistics showed the Tampa Bay Lightning out in front by a wide margin, the proprietary numbers from Clear Sight Analytics show a much tighter race at the top.

In fact, Fleury pulled ahead in a tight race with a combination of his 24-save shutout against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday and Vasilevskiy’s 6-3 win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday, which also dropped Chicago rookie Kevin Lankinen from fifth to 14th:
