Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick stuck with battle armour theme for the Kings’ purple and gold retro colors this season. (Mask and photos by EyeCandyAir)
If there’s an exception for goalies, however, it’s the debut of a new retro mask. So in the hopes of cheering up at least the puck-stopping fraternity, InGoal is pleased to present Jonathan Quick’s new purple-and-gold mask, painted by the reigning Stanley Cup- and Conn Smythe-winning goalie’s long-time personal artist, Steve Nash of EyeCandyAir.com.
Quick and EyeCandyAir have teamed up on some great retro masks in the past, including an incredible Rogie Vachon-inspired helmet for the Kings’ 40th anniversary two seasons ago. This time they decided to stick with a new take on Quick’s battle armour mask that goes with the regular black-and-silver jerseys, an original and much-copied look that has quickly become iconic among goalies since it debuted in 2008.
It’s a look that works nicely with the old purple and gold, and the classic Kings logo on the backplate is a nice touch.

sick. he should get pads the same colors
Totally agree. Keep the yellow and purple mask and pads no matter which jerseys they wear.
BEST MASK EVAR!!!!
(Not THE best, but really cool!)
The kings were terrible last year when they wore those vintage colors, but then they won the cup.
Great mask. Wasn’t the Kings’ 40 yr anniversary 2 years ago though; it was the Canucks’.
Nice color choices. Compliments the old jersey very well.
