The Cat’s Masks
- Felix Potvin's signature 'Cats' mask was inspired by the musical Cats playing in Toronto, designed by maskmaker Greg Harrison.
- Greg Harrison was a Toronto-based mask maker who crafted helmets for multiple NHL goalies, including Grant Fuhr and Felix Potvin.
- Potvin modeled his early cage style after Billy Smith of the Islanders, wearing a similar grille in junior and his rookie pro season.
- Harrison periodically updated Potvin's mask design, adding shading and blood one year before returning to the cleaner look Potvin preferred.
- Potvin valued both fit and aesthetics, noting the Cats-themed mask looked 'clean and crisp' on TV replays.

We already introduced Premium members to Vintage Tendy Magazine with some equipment-specific excerpts from their 24-page feature dedicated to Felix Potvin, and today we wanted to share a little from their bonus section on masks that “The Cat” wore in his career:
You may also enjoy our first excerpt from Vintage Tendy looking at Potvin’s gear over the years.
