Ottawa Senators rookie Joey Daccord joined us this week to review video from this past season for Pro Reads, and anyone who listened to his great guest appearance on the InGoal Radio Podcast more than two years ago knows weβre in for some great goaltending insights.
With that in mind, we figured weβd dive right in with one of the toughest saves in hockey these days: head to head with a full-speed Connor McDavid coming in on a breakaway.
THE SCENARIO
Thereβs really not much to break down here in terms of how this play starts: the NHLβs leading scorer and arguably worldβs fastest player pounces on a turnover in the neutral zone and from there itβs a pretty safe bet that no one is catching him, though an attempt does play a role.
