TRUE Catalyst Nitro Goalie Pads & Gloves Review — Pro Build at a Lower Price
On this week’s InGoal Radio gear segment (Episode 357), we take a full look at the TRUE Catalyst Nitro — TRUE’s second price point in goalie gear. It’s assembled offshore to bring the cost down, but it still carries genuine pro-level construction, so the question is what’s changed, what carries over, and which features actually matter for goalies.
- Built offshore to lower the price point, the TRUE Catalyst Nitro still carries genuine pro-level construction shared with the made-in-Canada Catalyst Nitro Pro.
- SCF core foams reduce overall pad weight while maintaining the balance between rebound control and pop goalies expect from a performance pad.
- A composite-reinforced thigh rise provides a rigid 5-hole seal, while the recessed knee cradle allows free rotation through butterfly and recovery movements.
- The Fast Rotation calf system and Diamond Glide inner edge work together to support quick lateral pushes and efficient butterfly slides.
- A mid-stiff 110° boot angle and Hybrid Pro Lace toe ties round out a setup that includes matching glove and blocker for a cohesive pro-style package.
In this review we break down the pads and gloves in detail: the new SCF core foams that trim weight while balancing pop and control, the composite-reinforced thigh rise built for a rigid 5-hole, the classic dense-foam knee roll face, a recessed knee cradle for free rotation, the Fast Rotation calf system, a Diamond Glide inner edge, a mid-stiff 110° boot, and Hybrid Pro Lace toe ties. We also cover how the matching glove and blocker round out the setup.
