Bauer Supreme Fuse Goalie Chest Protector Review — Max Protection, Lightweight Feel

Chest and arm protector — max protection without the bulk

Presented by

On this week's InGoal Radio gear segment, Kevin Woodley sits down with Cam from The Hockey Shop to break down the new Bauer Supreme Fuse goalie chest & arm protector for 2026 — what carries over, what's changed from the Supreme Shadow, how it protects, and who it's for.

Key Takeaways
  • Dual-layer Shock-Lite foam in the belly breaks up impact on the top layer and absorbs it on the bottom, delivering high-level protection without added bulk.
  • The HingeArm+ elbow floater is reshaped with more overlapping surface area than its Supreme Shadow predecessor, improving RVH and wraparound coverage.
  • A featherlight DCT impact foam protects the sternum — the most exposed area of the chest — without adding weight.
  • Hook-and-loop chest-to-pant anchor points keep the protector locked in place whether worn tucked, untucked, or half-in.
  • The Supreme Fuse is now offered in a women's-specific model alongside senior sizes S, M, L, and XL.
Gear Notes

The Supreme Fuse chest and arm protector slots in just below Bauer’s flagship Fuse Pro, built around lightweight, high-impact Shock-Lite foams that deliver big protection without the bulk — and the freedom to move in the butterfly, in the RVH and across the crease.

Belly and sternum

Two layers of Shock-Lite foam do the heavy lifting through the belly: the top layer breaks up the high-speed impact while the layer beneath slows and absorbs the puck. Over the sternum, a featherlight, high-density DCT impact foam adds protection on the most exposed part of the chest without piling on weight or bulk.

Shoulders and arms

Shock-Lite Pro shoulder floaters spread coverage broadly across the collarbones and shoulders, with more Shock-Lite Pro foam wrapping the biceps and forearms. The standout update is the Shock-Lite HingeArm+ elbow floater, reshaped with more overlapping surface area than the Supreme Shadow it follows for stronger coverage in the RVH and against off-angle, wrap-around shots. Tapered wrist padding cuts down on binding with the blocker and glove cuffs.

Fit and cooling

Hook-and-loop chest-to-pant anchor points lock the unit in place whether you wear it tucked, untucked or half-in, and a dual AIRFLOW spine channels air through the protector to help keep you cool.

Sizing

The Supreme Fuse chest and arm protector comes in senior sizes S, M, L and XL, and is now also offered in a women’s-specific model.

Who it’s for

Goalies who want broad, confident protection that stays light and mobile, and who like the idea of Bauer’s high-end Shock-Lite foams a step below the top-tier Fuse Pro. Questions on sizing or fit? The goalie experts at The Hockey Shop Source for Sports can walk you through it.
