Amanda Thiele
Amanda Thiele grew up in Milford, Michigan, and spent four seasons between the pipes for the Ohio State Buckeyes before the Boston Fleet selected her in the sixth round, 42nd overall, in the 2025 PWHL Draft. She signed a one-year contract with Boston through the 2025–26 season following training camp.
At Ohio State, Thiele appeared in 102 games, logging 5,585:42 minutes of playing time and finishing with a record of 74-16-3-14 and a .914 save percentage on 1,699 saves. During her senior season she set a program record for single-season wins with 20, and added four shutouts — among them a 5-0 win over Wisconsin on January 14, 2023, and a 3-0 Frozen Four semifinal shutout of Northeastern on March 17, 2023. She also recorded five assists across her college career and earned a series of academic honors, including the OSU Scholar Athlete award in 2021, 2022, and 2023, Academic All-Big Ten recognition in 2022 and 2023, and WCHA All-Academic and WCHA Scholar-Athlete distinctions in those same years. The AHCA named her an All-American Scholar in 2021, and she was named to the WCHA Final Faceoff All-Tournament Team. She was also listed on the HCA Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Watchlist in 2022 and received the WCHA Goaltender of the Month award in February 2022.
One of her more widely seen college appearances came on January 4, 2025, when Ohio State played Wisconsin in an outdoor game at Wrigley Field. Thiele made 31 saves and turned aside all seven Wisconsin attempts in a shootout, helping the Buckeyes earn an extra point in the WCHA standings.
Before her collegiate career, Thiele represented the United States at the 2020 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship in Slovakia, where she won a gold medal.
