Amanda Thiele
Amanda Thiele grew up in Milford, Michigan, and represented the United States on the international stage before she ever played a professional game, winning a gold medal at the 2020 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship in Slovakia.
Her college career at Ohio State University spanned four seasons and 102 games, during which she accumulated 1,699 saves, a .914 save percentage, and a record of 74-16-3-14 over 5,585 minutes and 42 seconds of play. In her senior season, she set an Ohio State program record with 20 wins in a single season and recorded four shutouts, including a 5-0 blanking of Wisconsin on January 14, 2023, and a 3-0 shutout of Northeastern in the Frozen Four semifinals on March 17, 2023. She also recorded five assists across her college career.
One of the more distinctive moments of her time with the Buckeyes came on January 4, 2025, when Ohio State played Wisconsin outdoors at Wrigley Field. Thiele made 31 saves that day and stopped all seven Wisconsin shootout attempts, securing an extra point for the Buckeyes in the WCHA standings.
Throughout her college years, Thiele earned recognition in the classroom as well as on the ice. She was named WCHA Goaltender of the Month in February 2022, appeared on the HCA Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Watchlist in 2022, and was named to the WCHA Final Faceoff All-Tournament Team. Her academic honors included Ohio State Scholar Athlete recognition in 2021, 2022, and 2023, Academic All-Big Ten in 2022 and 2023, WCHA All-Academic Team in 2022 and 2023, WCHA Scholar-Athlete in 2022 and 2023, and AHCA All-American Scholar in 2021.
Boston selected Thiele in the sixth round, 42nd overall, in the 2025 PWHL Draft. She signed a one-year contract with the Fleet through the 2025-26 season at the conclusion of Training Camp. She wears number 30.
